Liquid vs. Powder Highlighters

Liquid vs. Powder Highlighters

Highlighters are a great way to add a healthy glow or accentuate your features by adding a bit of light-catching pigment to any areas you want to emphasize. There are also different types of highlighters depending on whether you want a subtle or dramatic glow. The main types of highlighters we will be discussing are liquid and powder formulas.

Liquid highlighters, such as Bellapierre’s Liquid Gold, can be applied on top of foundation as a concentrated highlight, or underneath for all-over luminescence. When applying on top of foundation, just to be sure to apply any powder products after, otherwise it can look cakey and tend not to blend as well. The great thing is you don’t even need a brush to apply Liquid Gold; it can be applied with the same sponge used for foundation or dabbed on with your finger.

Powder highlighters are much more common, and can be applied over any powder products you’ve used. Our favorite powder highlighter is Bellapierre’s Glowing Palette, which is a 6-color palette with huge pans and comes with universal shades that can be layered and mixed and matched for the perfect glow every time. Typically, highlighter is applied using a medium sized brush to the tops of the cheekbones, underneath the brow bone, and on the tip of the nose.

With so many highlighter options available, it can be difficult to choose which one is right for you. Fortunately, Bellapierre offers a wide range of options for any skin type and tone.
