The Viral Latte Makeup Look
You may have heard of it by now, but “latte makeup” took the beauty world by storm over the last year. This makeup look is inspired by shades of coffee and invokes a sense of coziness. Latte makeup is warm, bronzy, and a little smoky and looks romantically stunning on just about everyone. Something about the earthy brown hues is so approachable and timeless and yet insanely on-trend at the same time. In this article, we’ll provide you with a crash course in latte makeup 101. Then, we’ll list all our product recommendations at the end.
To achieve this makeup look, you’ll want to first start by prepping the skin. This of course is done by cleansing, moisturizing, and then priming. Once the skin is prepped, move on to your base. For latte makeup, the base should look natural, so opt for a glowy light to medium coverage foundation or BB Cream. If you need more coverage, spot conceal with a concealer. The idea is to be fresh-faced and dewy here.
Once you’ve applied your base, you’ll want to warm up the complexion with a bronzer and blush. For this look, skip the cool-toned contour and go for a Sunkissed bronze instead which will bring warmth and youthfulness rather than sculpting and defining the features. Apply your bronzer to the edges of the forehead and temples, and along the jawline and cheekbones. For blush, go for a shade that looks natural and apply sparingly to the cheeks; we want the bronze to stand out more than the blush.
Next is the main feature of latte makeup – the eyes! The great part about this step is you can use the same bronzer you used for complexion and apply it all over the lids, making sure to blend the edges. You can really stretch the edges outward as you blend since it will meld seamlessly with your bronzer on the temples. To add more definition to this monochromatic look, take an eyeshadow or eyeliner that is a slightly darker shade of brown and make a diffused wing along the outer lash line. Then, go ahead and mimic that wing by lightly lining your lower lash line with the same brown shade and blending it out. You can also add an optional brown eyeliner to your lower waterline. Finish with a few coats of black mascara only to the top lashes.
For lips, go for a caramel nude lipstick with a slightly darker matching lip liner. We want most of the emphasis to be on the bronzed skin and sultry eyes, so the lips should be understated but still defined and contribute to the overall monochromatic look.
